Eric Varnum will demonstrate hide tanning using a process that was common with Native Americans in the 1500s. Visitors will have a chance to see different stages of the tanning process and Eric will explain the techniques. Call 334-794-3452 to register.
HIDE TANNING CLASSES

Eric Varnum will offer a class to those interested in a chance to get a more hands on experience in tanning hides. Participants will meet with Ericand work through the process. For this workshop we advice participants to wear clothes they don’t mind getting dirty, an apron and rubber gloves are a must. Also a good knife and a drawknife is recommended. Registration is required for the hands-on class and can be made by calling the park office. Registration is limited to 15 participants. $10 per student plus gate admission. Southeast Alabama Community Theatre (SEACT) indulges its love of theatre classics with the presentation of Lawrence and Lee's immortal classic, INHERIT THE WIND. The drama, based on the Scopes Monkey Trial of 1925, will be directed by Danny Richards. Performances are February 16th-20th, 2010 at The Cultural Arts Center.
ASTRONOMY NIGHTS

View stars and constellations through telescopes and binoculars on the Gazebo lawn. Wagon rides, Planetarium programs, refreshments. Registration required. Members, $2; nonmembers, $4. SEED SWAP

DO IT YOURSELF: Hosted by the Wiregrass Master Gardeners. The purpose of the Seed Swap is to swap Heirloom seeds to help preserve heritage (non-hybrid) seeds. Bring seeds cleaned, packaged and labeled with registration information. Have a copy of the registration form for each package (quantity for seed size at end). Exchange a maximum of 5 of the same kind and no more than half of the supply until everyone has participated. You can still join us if you do not have seeds to swap. Seed will be available to get you started. Suggested minimum amounts are: 10-15 large seeds; 25 medium seeds; 50 medium-small seeds; 100 small seedsInterpretive Center Auditorium. Free with park admission.
